2016 Linda's Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon
The signature wine of the estate, an elegent and balanced cabernet sauvignon.
Tasting Notes
Our finest 2016 wine offers cassis, boysenberry, chocolate, with vanilla and hints of toasty oak. On the palate is fresh dark berry and cherry fruit with subtle bittersweet chocolate, coffee and black tea flavors. Nice concentration and fine tannins on entry, well-structured mid-palate with slightly chewy, rich tannins. We recommend some cellaring and decanting through 2024, it should peak 2024-2030 and continue to age.
Vineyard Designation
Estate Linda's Hillside
Vineyard Notes
The Estate Linda’s Hillside Vineyard is located in the southwestern bench lands of Napa Valley, in the Oak Knoll District appellation. The prime hillside vineyard on the Darms Lane estate is named in honor or Linda Bump co-owner of Darms Lane who passed away in 2007 from ovarian cancer. It is the finest wine we make – a tribute to her.
Winemaker Notes
The 2016 vintage started out very similar to the 2015 vintage with a mild February leading to an earlier bud break of late March for the Cabernet Sauvignon at our estate vineyard. May, June, and July were consistently warm and pleasant leading to expectations of another extremely early harvest. Several nice warm spells the last week in September and first weeks of October pushed the grapes to a lovely ripeness. We harvested Cabernet Sauvignon for Linda’s Hillside on October 12th before season ending rain hit the Valley a couple days later.
